The LOVE Project
January 31, 2021 through Valentine's Day, February 14

Our LOVE Project purpose… show members of our church family we care!

The LOVE Project is a Holland’s Youth service event when our youth make yard signs for some of our church members who might need a little extra love and encouragement.

The LOVE Project is an opportunity for our youth to reach out to our church family
  • who are older members of our community,
  • who have serious or chronic medical issues,
  • who have had a recent loss in their immediate family,
  • who are widowed,
  • or who just need a little extra love right now.

Youth (with parents’ help as needed) will…
  • Pick up their desired number of yard signs along with their assigned church members’ names and addresses in the Youth Fellowship Hall this Sunday, January 31 sometime between 3-4:30 pm.
  • Decorate the yard signs with permanent markers or paint. The signs have outlines of letters/shapes to make this easy!
  • Place the signs in church members’ yards by Valentine’s Day, February 14th.

Come help serve our church through The LOVE Project!
What a great way to spread the LOVE of God!

CONFIRMATION 2021

Confirmation is an opportunity for youth (grades 6-12) to publicly affirm their faith in Jesus and become full members of Holland's UMC. Here is more information about Confirmation in the United Methodist Church.

Beyond Baptism: What Confirmation Means to United Methodists

In-person classes are offered in preparation for Confirmation and will be held on Tuesday evenings culminating in our Confirmation service on Sunday, May 23 at 9 am.

Class topics include, but are not limited to:
*God, Our Creator
*Jesus, Our Redeemer
*The Holy Spirit, Our Sustainer
*The Wesleyan Quadrilateral for making decisions
*Worship and Sacraments
*Early Church History
*Methodism and Holland's UMC History
*What We Believe (Using the Apostle's Creed)
*Being a Follower of Christ
*Confirmation Vows

Confirmands are expected to attend all class sessions. In addition, confirmands should participate weekly (as much as is safely possible given the current pandemic) in one or more church activity/event such as UMYF or worship.

COVID protocols will be used including checking temperatures before class sessions, wearing masks, social distancing, and washing hands or using hand sanitizer frequently.

Each confirmand will have a mentor-an adult with a mature faith who can set an example for young confirmands of how to grow in faith. Mentors attend class and participate with the confirmand.

If interested in Confirmation 2021, please register the youth with a parent as the registration contact by January 31, 2021. There is no cost.
